Farming

From generation to generation, the Rothschild family has targeted good produce from good land. By listening to men and caring for nature, the approach gets to the heart of the matter. By farming and adding value to its lands with due respect for tradition and the environment, the family is working for future generations.

Producing the only farm-made Brie de Meaux AOC is a matter of strong convictions. It comes from the Domaine des Trente Arpents, near Paris and is made with the milk of the farm's own cows which are fed on home-grown forage whatever the difficulties and weather hazards. Sustainable agriculture is practised on this estate as well as sustainable hunting that is organised along strictly ethical lines. There is a judicious balance between wild life management on the estate and forestry requirements.

The South African domain is also eco-friendly whether in the upkeep of the vines, olive growing or the treatment of its herd of Black Angus cows. The taste, quality and authenticity of all this produce is largely due to this rigorous commitment.
