A unique lifestyle

During the 1850s, the first imposing residences were also built –Mentmore in England and Ferrières in France- to be followed by many others throughout Europe. They all housed art treasures. During the same years, the Mouton and Lafite vineyards became Rothschild property. In 1895, Edmond de Rothschild, the youngest son of Baron James, visited Palestine for the first time. He worked on the region's development up to his death in 1934.
