The Bank is pleased to support the Gstaad Menuhin Festival for the second year. The Foundations have pleasure in endorsing the Gstaad Academy for the first time. This highlight of the classical festival scene started 14 July. The Labèque sisters and Chinese piano virtuoso Lang Lang head the bill of this this 60th annual festival.

Edmond de Rothschild (Switzerland) S.A. is pleased to sponsor the Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy for the second consecutive year. This popular summer event bringing together virtuosos and music lovers will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary this year. "Music & Family" is the theme for this year's festival, which started on 14 July with a concert by the Labèque sisters.

The 60th anniversary festival will light up the entire summer in the Gstaad region. Over 70 concerts are scheduled, with appearances by the classical music world's leading performers, including Chinese virtuoso Lang Lang, violonist Renaud Capuçon and Hungarian pianist Andràs Schiff.

This association is in line with the Rothschild family's two-centuries-old tradition of supporting artistic and musical creation. Over the decades, the Rothschilds have endorsed Chopin, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Berlioz, Stravinsky and more recently Jordi Savall.

Social commitment

Now loyal to the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, and always alongside major institutions such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Ariane and Benjamin de Rothschild have enriched the family tradition with a dimension of social commitment. The Edmond de Rothschild Foundations have sponsored many musical projects combining education and excellence in underprivileged schools and neighborhoods in Europe, Israel and New York.

It is from this perspective that the Edmond de Rothschild Foundations have decided to support the Gstaad Academy for the first time this year.

Support budding virtuosos

True to the memory of Yehudi Menuhin to support promising young talent on the path to mastery, during the seven-week festival the Gstaad Academy provides five master classes open to the public, numerous closing concerts, recitals by rising stars and workshops for enthusiasts of all generations.

By sponsoring the Gstaad Academy, the Foundations continue to affirm the importance of arts and music to promote dialogue between cultures.
