Funds of Hedge Funds have always played a central role in the Edmond de Rothschild Group. Edmond de Rothschild led the launch of Leveraged Capital Holdings, the world’s first fund of hedge funds, in 1969. Since 1969, LCH was chaired by its initiator Georges Karlweis and, since 2001, by his successor Rick Sopher who leads the business today.
The Group’s alternative multi-management activity is led by Edmond de Rothschild Capital Holdings Limited in London. The central philosophy has remained the same throughout: seeking out the most talented managers, suited to the expected market conditions and combining them in a way that has allowed us to achieve an exceptional track record of consistent success through many environments, and to avoid “blow-ups” and frauds.
Today, Edmond de Rothschild Capital Holdings acts as a service provider both to the Edmond de Rothschild Group’s Prifund Alpha range and to The Capital Holdings Funds, which includes LCH, which are themselves run as a joint venture with other partners.
