Alain Krief is promoted to Global Chief Investment Officer, effective August 24th. He is based in Paris and reports to Christophe Caspar, Global CEO of Edmond de Rothschild AM.
Alain has over 30 years of experience in fixed income and credit markets. He was appointed Global Head of Fixed Income at Edmond de Rothschild AM in 2019, and was responsible for a team of 15 people and €12 billion in assets. Between 2012 and 2019, he had a similar role at Oddo BHF Asset Management, prior to which Alain was Global Head of Credit at BNP Paribas Asset Management (Fischer Francis Trees & Watts). He has also held several leadership roles in European high yield at Crédit Agricole Asset Management (Amundi) and Crédit Lyonnais Asset Management.
Alain graduated in 1989 from the National School of Engineering of Caen (ENSI Caen) and holds a DEA (postgraduate degree) in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Caen.
The liquid investment team of Edmond de Rothschild AM includes 82 investment professionals covering fixed income (credit and sovereign), listed equities and multi asset and overlay, for a total AuM over €60 billion invested in mutual funds and mandates.
Edmond de Rothschild AM makes a second senior appointment, this time in the Equities Investment team with Charles Lilford joining as Co-Head of Equities, and Senior Portfolio Manager on the Big Data strategy alongside Xiadong Bao. Effective September 28th, Charles will be based in Paris and will report to Alain Krief, Global CIO of Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management.
With over two decades of experience in asset management and capital markets, Charles’ expertise lies in identifying winning companies across a range of sectors including Power & Energy, Industrials and most notably Technology. Prior to joining Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management, Charles spent ten years at BlackRock in the Sector & Thematics Team where he managed the flagship BGF Sustainable Energy Fund and the Future of Transport Fund. Charles has also worked as a Private Equity & Infrastructure Investment Manager for Treïs Partners LLP, Associate for Dresdner Kleinwort, and started his career as an Analyst at Fieldstone Private Capital Group.
Charles holds a Bachelor of Business Science from the University of Cape Town, and has completed several professional certificates in Business Administration, Energy Innovation & Emerging Technologies, and Financial Modelling.
Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management’s Big Data is a flagship strategy with €3.4 billion in assets under management and was launched in 2015. Classified as Article 8 under SFDR, the strategy invests in international companies at the heart of the data revolution across all sectors. Charles Lilford and Xiadong Bao will be Co-lead on the Big data strategy.
